Joanna Pantelides PhD

As a clinical psychologist, I’m passionate about helping people understand how past experiences and relationship patterns influence the present and shape how they understand themselves, relate to others, and navigate daily life. Together, we explore these deeper themes to support meaningful and lasting change.
My therapeutic approach draws from attachment, psychodynamic, and relational perspectives, and I also conduct play therapy. I view therapy as a space for curiosity, reflection, and growth, fostering self-awareness and more fulfilling relationships. I work collaboratively, listening closely and creating a space where you can explore your experiences with authenticity and openness.
I work with adults, adolescents, and children navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem and coping difficulties, relationship and family issues, trauma, and life transitions, including divorce. I help individuals explore their identity and build healthier, more fulfilling connections with themselves and others.
I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University-Brooklyn and completed my APA-accredited internship through Adelphi University’s Derner Institute Internship Consortium, training at Silver Hill Hospital and the William Alanson White Institute. My background includes work in college counseling centers, psychoanalytic institutes, and inpatient and residential settings, as well as research experience at Weill Cornell Medicine.
I believe that healing and growth happen through connection—by listening deeply, reflecting honestly, and engaging collaboratively in the therapeutic relationship. Starting therapy can feel both courageous and vulnerable, and I consider it a privilege to support people in this process.
